Christopher Burke
(International cartoonist)

A visit to this immensely satirical, witty and colourful exhibition by one of Britain’s top illustrator cartoonists is a must this Festival fortnight. Cartoonist of the Year 2000, Christopher Burke has produced work for The Sunday Telegraph, The Guardian, The Financial Times, The Times, The Sunday Times and several other major British publications.  He has produced many children’s books including two with Lenny Henry and his well-known Town Murals can be seen in over 90 Ottaker’s Bookshops. Christopher has produced posters for the Proms and for the Welsh National Opera and his work is in the permanent collection of the London Transport Museum and the Victoria & Albert Museum.  He will be drawing Festival goers and some of the Festival stars during their rehearsals.  These will be on show before each performance and during the interval.

The Colours of Pentecost
by
Lucy Hunter

Lucy Hunter has been designing and hand weaving tapestries for eight years. She has exhibited in art shows and galleries across the South East, including a year-long solo exhibition at Sarum Theological College in Salisbury.
Each piece is unique, woven as a means of communication, and becoming a form of poetry. Many of the works form part of Lucy’s search for answers to questions about the nature of God, and how that search affects the way we live.

In her current collection of work, for sale during this Festival of Music and the Arts, Lucy looks at colour in relation to the themes of Pentecost, and explores how it can inspire a deeper understanding of the vibrancy and meaning of this feast of the Holy Spirit.  This exhibition will officially open after the lecture at 5.00pm on Sunday 27th April.
